![]() ![]() Laura Avena, PhD in inorganic chemistry, MIT Chinese Linnea Swanson, medical school, University of Minnesota Chemistry Sarah Rasmussen, Fulbright research grant to Nepal ASIAN STUDIES They’ll be working for Teach for America and the Peace Corps, among other organizations.īelow is a sampling of where students are headed after graduation. ![]() They directed their own plays, gave recitals, delivered capstones.Īfter graduation they’re headed to a wide range of graduate schools-from American University to Stanford-and to an impressive array of jobs, from PricewaterhouseCoopers to Target to Microsoft.Īnd of course Macalester being Macalester, many members of the Class of 2014 are determined that their first post-college work should be in service of others. Mac seniors earned top prizes for sociology papers and anthropology essays and won critical language scholarships. Three students-Lily Alexander, Zack Avre, and Jocelyne Cardona-were so outstanding in the international arena they were named Global Citizenship Award winners. Others traveled to the Bahamas to conduct geological research. Geography major Sylvia Thomas won a Watson Fellowship, which funds her for a year of research into community radio stations in Bolivia, Bangladesh, and Tanzania.Ī number of seniors spent winter break traveling to Rome, where they learned about Italy’s history and antiquities. They have a lot to be proud about and much to look forward to.Ī Fulbright scholar is heading to Nepal. The world is looking bright for many of the members of the Class of 2014 as they prepare to cross the dais to grab their diplomas this month. ![]()
